Frequently asked questions

How do I know if counseling is right for me?

The best way to decide is to set up a free 15 minute consult and we can discuss what is happening and whether I may be able to help.

How long would we work together?

We will figure this out together.  We can decide on a certain number of sessions to meet your goals or we can work on an ongoing or as needed basis.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes.  I’m licensed in the states of Idaho and Wyoming.  I’m an authorized provider of Blue Shield Blue Cross in Wyoming.  In Idaho, I’m an authorized provider with Regence Blue Shield, Blue Cross of Idaho and Mountain Health Coop.

What are your specialities?

I’m a generalist, but have specialized training and certification in the following areas:

  • Trauma - I’m certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a very effective and frequently swift treatment for trauma.

  • Skills building - I’m intensively trained in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) which teaches mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance and emotion regulation skills.

  • Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy.

  • Leadership Effectiveness - I am currently completing certification in the Goleman Emotional Intelligence Coaching for leaders.

What’s the difference between coaching and counseling?

There are certainly overlaps between the two, but in general, coaching is about moving forward through a problem with a specific gaol in mind. Whereas counseling may often delve deeply into the past and healing is frequently the goal. The coaching I offer is geared toward leadership perfomance and specifically emotional intelligence competency.
